There’s quite a bit going on in Cairo this week, including the 16th International Ismaelia Festival for Folkloric Arts running at the Cairo Opera House from 19th to 21st, and Andrea Bocelli performing at the Pyramids! Sunday
The amazing Riff Band are playing traditional and contemporary Jazz at the Cairo Jazz Club. 10:30 pm; free.

Monday
Naghram Masry band setting Arabic poetry to music at al-Sawy Cuture Centre. 8:00 pm; 15 / 20 LE.

Tuesday
Egoz playing classic Rock covers at the Cairo Jazz Club. 10:30 pm; free.

Wednesday
Mazaher Ensemble performing at Makan – ritual healing music, heavy on the arrhythmic percussion, known as Zar. 9:00 pm; 20 LE advance and 30 LE on the door.

Thursday
Akram El Sharkawy Band and Ahmed El Sawy performing at al-Genaina Theatre in al-Azhar Park. Akram El Sharkawy’s band plays Oriental and contemporary Jazz originals. Ahmed El Saway is an acclaimed oud player who has been venturing into the realm of electronica, but for this performance is going acoustic. 9:00 pm; 10 LE plus park entrance.

Friday
Sahra playing old-school Rai music at al-Genaina Theatre, al-Azhar Park. 9:00 pm; 10 LE plus park entrance.

Saturday
Andrea Bocelli performing at the Pyramids! You’ll need to book in advance, and tickets start at 1000 LE!
