From 1st November till 10th November the 19th Festival and Conference of Arab Music is taking place at various venues of the Cairo Opera House. The schedule isn’t out yet so keep an eye on their website and the sites mentioned above for details.

Sunday
Shafik Qatary at al-Sawy Culture Wheel – playing piano and singing a mixture of rock and roll, gospel, blues, country and love songs! 8 pm; 30 / 35 LE.

Monday
Wust el Balad playing at After Eight. 10 pm; minimum charge 100 LE.

Tuesday
Liberty Jazz from Nigeria playing a mix of African tunes, high life jazz and RnB at the Cairo Jazz Club. 10:30 pm; free.

Wednesday
Performance of works by German composer Robert Schumann at American University in Cairo Downtown campus. Starts 8 pm; call 02 2794 2964 for more details.

Thursday
The Riff Band (one of the best bands in Cairo) 8th Anniversary at Cairo Jazz Club. 10:30 pm; free.

Friday
Sweet Sound Band playing at the Cairo Opera House – playing pop, tango and gypsy music. 8 pm.

Saturday
Yehya Khalil playing at al-Sawy Culture Wheel – veteran musician credited with founding Egypt’s first jazz band back in the 60’s. 8 pm; 25 / 30 LE.
