Friday Photo: Zahi Hawass Chasing Mummies

Photo Friday — By Pharaonick on December 24, 2010 at 2:31 pm

This photo was sent me by a good friend of mine, Dalia Rabie. Although it’s well out of date, it’s just too fabulous not to share.

As you can see, it’s the advert for the History Channel documentary series Chasing Mummies, starring – and that is most definitely the right word here – Zahi Hawass. In case you don’t know, Hawass is the head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, whose mission is “to protect and promote the cultural heritage of Egypt”.

Hawass is, to put it mildly, a rather colourful character – think of him as a sort of combination of Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, and Ramesses the Great. Not only larger than life, but larger than the pyramids themselves!
