- AAA Travel has announced 15 new additions to it’s prestigious Five Diamond Award list and two of the newly added properties are in Cancun & Riviera Maya. Le Blanc Spa Resort, in Cancun, and Grand Velas All Suites and Spa Riviera Maya, in Playa del Carmen, were the only two hotels in Mexico to be added to the Five Diamond list for 2011. AAA Travel has 65 experienced evaluators that visit thousands of hotels each year and do rigorous on-site evaluations of each property. According to AAA Travel’s website, “Five Diamond properties are the premier establishments that provide the ultimate in quality and service.” Cancun has several other Five Diamond Award-winning hotels, including Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Cancun Resort & Spa, JW Marriott Cancun Resort, and Ritz-Carlton Cancun.
- Earlier this week, Virgin America airline began non-stop service to Cancun from both Los Angeles and San Francisco. Introductory fares start at $139 USD, each way. - Cancun has a new hotel! Villa del Palmar is an all-inclusive hotel/time-share property, located in the Playa Mujeres area just north of downtown Cancun. The first phase of the hotel opened on December 24, 2010 and currently has special promotional rates available.
