Looking to cool down this summer? Why not check out Cheltenham’s open-air swimming pool – the Sandford Parks Lido.

The pool has slides, a children’s pool, and a paddling pool. For more serious swimmers there is also a 50m pool with two lanes reserved most days for training.

The lido also has free children’s play equipment, free table tennis, and basketball. There are also gradually descending steps and pool hoist to help disabled guests in and out of the pool.

The pool is also home to many events taking place in Cheltenham. This summer check out their activity day and junior “aquathlon”, watch Alice Through The Looking Class or take part in the annual Cheltenham triathlon. Click here for more information on these and many more events.

If you’re not the best swimmer, or are looking to improve your strokes, you can also sign up for one on one swimming lessons. Lessons are open to everyone regardless of age or ability. A session with an instructor costs £15 for a 30 minute lesson. If you’re interested call the lido on +44 (0)1242 524430.

The lido is open until 26th September. See here for opening times.

A day pass costs £4.10 for adults, £2.10 for concessions and there are discounts for families. If you’re an early bird, or night owl, there are also discounts for early morning and late night swims. Keen swimmers can also buy a season ticket which will help save those pennies. Click here for the lido’s rates.
