‘Tis the season for shopping, snow, gift giving, and the NUTCRACKER!  Chicago offers many chances to see this magical ballet that draws the audience into a wonderful dream, set on Christmas Eve. Every little girl dreams of being Clara and one day the beautiful and elegant Sugar Plum Fairy, and every little boy is impressed by the evil Mouse King, and the whole family is wowed by the beautiful music, graceful dancing, and of course the fantastic growing Christmas tree. Getting dressed up and going to the Nutcracker is a holiday tradition for many families, and you can be part of it this year in Chicago. The Civic Ballet of Chicago brings in some of Chicago’s most talented dancers to put on quite the production, complete with a tree that doesn’t grow, it spins! This is guaranteed to be a pleasing performance, considering the choreography is inspired by two of Chicago’s most well-known ballet teachers and dancers, Larry Long and Ruth Page!

Salt Creek Ballet is one of the Chicago area’s greatest ballet studios, producing very talented dancers. Therefore, their production, which also includes Chicago professionals, is enjoyable and quite impressive!
