Bike the Drive

Events, Things to Do — By adimarcial on April 29, 2011 at 3:25 pm

Right when I post what to do with all this rainy weather, a beautiful sunny, clear sky day appears! Go figure. The lakefront will be packed with runners, walkers, and bikers today, which made me think everybody is going to be itching to sign up for a Chicago race or event outside.

One of the best events of the spring is Bike the Drive, a fun event for the whole family that really marks the beginning of summer. For one morning cars are banned from Lake Shore Drive so bicyclists can freely ride along all eight lanes. This is a fantastic way to see the shoreline, the buildings along Lake Shore Drive, and views of Lake Michigan. The ride runs along a 15-mile stretch, making the ride 30 miles in total if you decide to ride the full loop.

Sign-up today, put some air in those tires and get out on the lake!
