Free Wi-fi in Christchurch

Congratulations to these places for providing free Wi-Fi in Christchurch!
Well done Christchurch Libraries (City, New Brighton, South) for providing free Wi-Fi for all – even on one of the few days they’re closed I still see travellers, and local I assume, sitting outside checking their emails and other web activities.
And, while the Wi-Fi is free, you of course need to have bought a coffee (or something else) to access it at these coffee shops – that seems fair to me.
- Simply Catering. Madras/Salisbury St cnr (see earthquake update below)
- Le Café. Worcester Boulevard
- Esquires Coffee House (in Armagh Street, Hornby Mall, Northwood, The Palms)
- Coffee Culture (9 stores from Sumner, Lyttelton, city and malls)
If you know other places in Christchurch where you can access the web free, please let me know (kiwitravelwriter) so I can keep this blog up-to-date – there are lots more .. so always ask!
POST QUAKE UPDATE:
Sadly, the lovely old building that housed Simply Catering has been demolished.
Able to retrieve most of their equipment and are working their cafe in a caravan and using a local kitchen owned by one of their customers. It will operate next door to the site while a replacement is built. “we are not going anywhere” the owner said, and he hopes this will allow him to keep a couple of his employees in their jobs.

Alpine Ice also has free wi-fi in their cafe if you spend $4 (the cost of a latte).
