Writers Festival & annual writing competition
Events, Things to Do — By Heather Hapeta on August 9, 2010 at 10:24 pmEvery two years bookworms turn out in droves for The Press Christchurch Writers Festival (even years) and this year will be no different. If you will be in my city during 9th – 12th September 2010 you too can attend this biennial celebration of authors and books.
However, book early if you want to meet New Zealand and international authors as I know many events are booked out well before the festival begins.
If you are a writer, as well as a reader, it’s also the time for the local branch of the New Zealand Society of Author to hold their One Day Short Story Competition. So, if you think you can write a short story between 10am and 5pm on the 29th August, turn up at the Christchurch Art Gallery, register at the (just-for-the-day) NZSA registration desk in the foyer, and start writing.
Prize winners of the short story competition will be announced as part of The Press Christchurch Writers Festival at the Christchurch Town Hall, Saturday 11th September - I hope to see all you readers and writers there.
