The largest and longest established jazz festival weekend in the Greater Dublin area. There is a mixture of free and non free events which will be held in a variety of pub locations throughout Bray. If you are interested in Jazz or Blues, this is a must-go-event. This years jazz festival will feature a strong performance of contemporary European jazz as well as Senegalese Kora player Solo Cissokho, Brazillian Trio Correntes and the Mediterranean Celtic influences of Tarab.
The festival has a diverse selection of events this year including several street performances in Temple Bar and Wolfe Tone Park which are open to all for free, adult events such as Quijote from Spain, Morningstar from the Netherlands and The Seas of Organillo from the UK will also be performed in The Project Arts Theatre and of course there will also be the original old favourites such as Punch and Judy.
Although not all events are free here they are all very reasonably priced. Highlights include a performance by Irish opera singer Cliona Cassidy, a play ‘Within the Gates’ by famous Irish playwright Sean O’Casey performed in the Liberty Hall Theatre. While free events include a flute concert, performance by the Jon Dots an Electro Rock Band and an appearance by The Pre-Madonnas in ‘The Leading Man’ which is a mixture of comedy, opera & song.
4) COMEDY CRUNCH – SHEBEEN CHIC
Free comedy combined with free ice cream, what more could you ask for ! The Comedy Crunch is a stand up comedy event which is held downstairs at Shebeen Chic. This Sunday expect some belly busting laughter as there is an impressive line out of comedians to entertain.
5) MAKE-UP FX EVENT – FILMBASE
Ever wanted to find out how to create cuts, bruises, throat slashes, burns and a zombie monster using make up special effects? Well now is your chance. Make-up artists Terri Pinnell and Tom MCInerney will do live demos during the event while fiendish foods such as edible zombie brains will be served up ..yummy?
