5 great record stores in Dublin

1) Spin Dizzy – Situated in the funky George’s Street arcade this shop is an old favourite for many. You can both buy and sell, vinyl records, cd’s and dvd’s. Tickets for live performances are on sale here and flyers for upcoming gigs are handily in record sleeves as you browse various music genres including, reggae, drum & bass, rock, etc. A couple of turntables are also provided for you to listen to the record before you buy.
2) Freebird Records – This is a well established planted in Temple Bar with its exterior walls covered in striking colourful graffiti. Inside is a warren of music to browse. A big selection of Rock and pop alongside hip hop and a small sampling jazz and reggae can also be found.
3) Hidden Record and Bookshop – This is as the name suggests in well hidden and can easily be passed by. Though a doorway you walk through a corridor until you come into a maze like store where piles of books are scattered around one section and dvd’s, cd’s and vinyl records are laid out in the other. This atmospheric shop is worth a visit just for the experience alone.
4) In Dub
This is a temple for reggae lovers that has been around for years, recently relocated to the Crow Street Bazaar. It is a record shop dedicated to Reggae music and Ram the Libyan laidback owner adds to the ambiance. Pictures of him and famous reggae musicians such as Max Romeo are proudly displayed on the wall.
5) City Discs
This is a small but friendly shop where you can find some real gems from time to time. It also sells concert tickets and you will find a sample of all styles here.
