Hidden Gem – The Blue Light Pub in Dublin

Without doubt one of my favourite spots for a pint in Dublin. It is an unpretentious local pub that is authentic without trying to be, like some other touristy pubs in the area. The Blue Light Pub is located high up in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains.  It boasts spectacular views from its car park which doubles as a beer garden in good weather.  Inside just sit back, listen to the crackle of the open fire, the sounds of laughter and enjoy the live music and soak up the atmosphere.

Everyone is welcomed inside with a smile whether you are a biker, a tourist or celebrity. Naomi Campbell, The Edge and Van Morrison have all visited this unpretentious cosy pub.

It also happens to be a great spot to start a hike up the Dublin hills. Often I have gone for a picnic and a long walk followed by a pint beside to fire. When your ready to go the staff will call a cab for you and will let you know when it arrives.
