Photo Friday – Sand Castles at Dublin Castle
What's New — By vourneentaylor on August 20, 2010 at 12:55 pmSand sculpture exhibition will be held in the courtyard of Dublin Castle until the end of August to transform 80 tonnes of sand into amazingly detailed sculptures.
The sculpture group, Duthain Dealbh whose name means ‘Fleeting Sculpture’, will carve several sculptures with a Viking theme, to complement the Dublin Viking Festival which takes place on August 21 and 22.
Apparently to prepare their chosen medium they soak, compact and harden the sand into large blocks, making it more durable before the sculptors start to develop their creations.
