Edinburgh: Doors Open Day

Events, Things to Do — By Alex Demianczuk on September 22, 2010 at 2:19 pm

Hey Folks! Just wanted to let you know about a great event happening this Saturday and Sunday, September 25-26th. It’s Edinburgh Doors Open Day – a chance for you to visit a slew of architecturally impressive buildings for free! Here’s the information courtesy of the Cockburn Association:

Doors Open Day is your chance to explore some of Edinburgh’s architecturally and culturally significant buildings – all for free. From heritage landmarks to the city’s newest architecture, Doors Open Day offers free access to properties that are either not usually open to the public or would normally charge an entry fee. The event also offers the public an opportunity to find out more about the capital’s public buildings.

All venues feature behind the scenes tours, activities, exhibitions and/or talks which bring the history of the building and its everyday use to life. Many sites organise additional free activities for children and families.

Doors Open Day is a celebration of Edinburgh’s architecture, culture and heritage and has been organised by the Cockburn Association (Edinburgh’s Civic Trust) since 1991. Edinburgh Doors Open Day is part of European Heritage Days.
