The Grassmarket Festival
Events — By Christina Maria Paschyn on April 27, 2011 at 8:00 amThe Grassmarket Festival, a brand new event, begins this Friday and will run for three days in the historic and popular Grassmarket area of Edinburgh: April 29, 30 and May 1.
Despite the Grassmarket’s often raucous nature by night, the organisers tell us that a common theme running through the festival will beĀ tea, handmade cakes, and vintage and recycled items, showcasing vintage clothing, furniture and ceramics alongside secondhand vinyl, artist books, quilts and other interesting collectibles. On Saturday at 12:30 p.m., the DanceBase studio will present Rambos de Tango, an interactive show including audience participation. Festival goers can also take part in a traditional tea dance.
Live music by some of Edinburgh’s best up-and-coming bands will begin at 6pm on Friday. Check out the festival website for the full schedule.
The festival will run from 12pm to 8pm all three days. Entry is free.
