Rain, Rain Go Away!

Things to Do, Travel Tips — By katiegreenaway on May 10, 2010 at 11:57 am

In these past few weeks, there has been non-stop rain and thunderstorms.  People are angry and starting to get sick again.  I started sneezing a lot yesterday.  Because winter ended late, now the April showers are appearing for a final bow in May.  As I am confused on what to wear each day because some mornings it is warm and some are chilly.  Here are some suggestions for dealing with the annoying rainstorms in Florence.

  1. Wear layers–It never hurts to bring a cardigan or light sweater since the rain clouds roll in ever so fast this time of the year.
  2. Umbrella–Don’t forget to pack an umbrella before coming to Florence.  *FYI*The ones they sell on the street for a ridiculous price of €3 or €5 will be broken before the end of the day.
  3. Short rainstorms–These storms sometimes last from 5 to 20 minutes.  But these days they are lasting most of the day so be aware that your day will not be ruined.  The rain will quit eventually.
  4. Plan for inside adventures–Visit museums like the Uffizi GalleryMuseo dell’ Opera del Duomo, or Cappelle Medicee.
  5. More inside excursions– Santa Croce, San Marco, Museo Stibbert, Palazzo Pitti and Bargello Museum.
  6. Window Shopping–If it isn’t pouring too hard, window shopping could be a relaxing activity as well.

Eventually the sun will be boiling down on us all summer long.  I guess we should be happy it isn’t too hot yet. :)
