A bookshop, a cultural kitchen paired with a modern feel, Cuculia, I found by accident when walking down Via Serragli. You really can pass by this small hole in the wall if you don’t know exactly where it is. The address itself doesn’t help either, Via Serragli 3r and 1r. As you enter, there are comfy chairs situated outside the front doors. The space occupies two nice sized front rooms both with large windows looking out onto the street. There are bookshelves full of all kinds of books. Cookbooks, animal books, Florence history books, children books. They offer WiFi to it’s patrons by asking the staff for the password. Every evening they serve an unique aperitivo featuring a mix of tastes around the world. No evening has the same aperitivo. There is art on display from local artists and yummy chocolate calling your name from the deli window.
What is great about this place is that you can spend hours reading, surfing the net and you won’t be bothered. Take your time as you sip your cappuccino. The atmosphere of this locale is relaxed with the color white painted throughout. In the back, there is a room for private parties and also an outside patio where smokers can congregate as well. Every evening they serve an unique aperitivo featuring a mix of tastes around the world. No evening has the same aperitivo. Apertivo costs only €6, which is very inexpensive by Florence’s standards. Brunch is a common event running you only €10. For the quality of food and service it’s a perfect place to enjoy in Florence.
The busy times are starting from 7pm until late evening and the weekends in the morning for brunch. Apertivi and brunch are what keeps people coming back. This is by far the least expensive and the best quality of food, atmosphere and personality any locale has to offer in Florence. Cuculia would be a great place to regroup after walking all day. You can sample a nice aperitivo while planning for you next adventure.
