Five Places to Propose in Florence
Things to Do, What's New — By katiegreenaway on October 18, 2011 at 10:03 amAnother typical place to propose is Piazzale Michelangelo. Located on a plateau a bit above the city which by sunset is a grand vista of the whole of Florence. A panoramic view of the city that has romance built into its streets, traditions and culture. You can’t go wrong when choosing this to be the place where you ask her to be your wife.
Perhaps you enjoy the story of Dante Alighieri and Beatrice. A love story that started a young age and soon became an obsession. Dante’s Church or La Chiesa di Santa Margherita is dedicated to the love Dante had for Beatrice. Yet they never were a couple the love grew deeper as he grew older and she was married to another suitor. A romantic alleyway in Florence, this would be a fabulous space to propose. Amongst the paintings of Dante and Beatrice and the forbidden love he could never obtain.
A more intimate place you can propose would be the Boboli Gardens. The gardens are filled with gorgeous greens, fountains and flowers during the summer months. There are many little paths where you can get down on one knee and ask for her hand without the watchful eye of the public. It costs €6.00 to enter be aware, but for a special moment like this, who really cares.
Take a twenty minute bus ride to the quaint little town of Fiesole. Nestled into a little hill where you can see Florence from a higher angle and the hills beyond. From Piazza Mino where the bus ends, take a left and walk up the very steep hill that will lead you to San Francesco Church. But right before you get there, keep your eyes on the left as you climb. The views are among the most beautiful I have ever had the chance to see. Once you reach the top where you can touch the Duomo with your finger, sit on the benches and drink it in. What a romantic setting to ask your loved one to spend the rest of their life with you!
Did you propose in Florence? If so, where did you propose?
