Hawaii’s Sunsets – The Golden Hour
What's New — By lottietagupa on June 25, 2010 at 7:43 pmTo each day there is a sunset and to each island there is a sunset experience. From exciting to intimate, sunset in the Hawaiian Island is certainly something special to behold.
For those who like their sunsets to precede fireworks, seek out a spot on the sand fronting the Hilton Hawaiian Village on any Friday evening. Shortly after the sun sets and the hotel entertainment concludes, there is a glorious fireworks display that follows the fading sunlight in to evening.
Sunset in West Maui is a unique experience. The setting sun silhouettes the island of Lanai and Molokai for a radiant glow that heralds in the warm tropical evenings. The ideal viewing is from Kaanapali Beach or from an ocean front table art any one of the larger resort restaurants.
Then there are the Big Island sunsets along the Kona coasts where more often than not the sunsets are brilliant and unobstructed. Perfect viewing is from the Kailua pier, or even better yet from the scenic outlook along the Queen Kaahumanu Highway.
The sunset experience on Kauai is certainly the most remote and intimate. A drive to Polihale Beach will offer seclusion, privacy and beautiful views flanked by sea cliffs and crashing surf.
Another fabulous sunset viewing spot is aboard a sunset dinner cruise. Either on a boat or on a sailing catamaran, sunset is always so special with the breezy warm salty air, surrounded by the clear Pacific Ocean and a tasty cocktail in one hand.
The best part about sunsets, is that there is one every day. So, it can be enjoyed each day in a different way.
