Pack your pint glasses, don your dirndl, grab those lederhosen – the Lan Kwai Fong beer festival is back. The two-day party starts at 1pm on Saturday.

For all those with post World Cup blues this could be the perfect antidote. Sample food from around the world, listen to live music, get your groove on to the dance shows, or simply savor the beer on offer. This year is the 7th year of the festival, and there are reportedly 100 different beer brands to try, up from 70 last year.

For the competitive among us there is also a “Spiceberg” eating competition and an arm wrestling competition. The annual Miss Beerfest will also take place at 9pm on Saturday 17th July in the area opposite dl Lux. Watch as the promotional girls from the beer brands battle it out to be crowned the queen of beer.

The theme for the festival this year is “An Oasis in the Hot Summer” – perhaps slightly optimistic as the Hong Kong Observatory predicts the weekend weather to alternate between sunny intervals and showers. However, no amount of rain will dampen what is sure to be a fun filled festival in the “fong.”
