Balık – Ekmek Caz / Fish & Bread Jazz
Events, Nightlife, Things to Do, What's New — By Aysegul Surenkok on March 22, 2010 at 7:47 pmWe need to define first of all the duo “fish & bread” before we make any further statements about jazz…
“Fish & bread” is to the Turkish what “fish & chips” is to the English. It is a traditional way of snacking on fish; a common method for setting up a friendly get-together, a reunion amongst college friends; or romanticising with the beloved one against the view of the city and Bosphorus. “Fish & bread” is prepared inside of the fishermen boats along the Bosphorus coast and sold to be consumed with a cold can of beer. Grilled fish inside smoked bread with onions and seasonal greens… That is yummy!
The new event of the summer promises this yummy feast with unlimited alcohol (wine and beer) accompanied by the finest tunes of jazz and blues by finest Jazz musicians on a ferry-boat that will also take the audience around the Bosphorus for the entire duration of the concert. Starting on the 27th of March, the concerts will be held every wednesday and saturday. Total cost is inclusive of the meals and alcohol and is 100 TRY.
The first round of concerts are Kent Mete Trio (31 March – 3 April), Feyza Eren Quartet (7-10 April), Önder Focan Trio and Sibel Köse (14-17 April), Elif Çağlar Quartet (21-24 April).
