Istanbul Film Festival 2011

Following the trail of the Shopping Festival, we are now celebrating the Film Festival -which by the way did not start with any less fervor than the shopping itself.
The 30th Istanbul Film Festival by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) started off with an opening ceremony on April 1st, 2011 in Lütfi KırdarFair and Congress Center. As it was the 30th aniversary, the opening ceremony, to which local and international artists, and film directors also attended, was full of surprises.
The opening ceremony was followed by the opening movie: the french film Copacabana, directed by Marc Fitoussi. French star Isabelle Huppert was in the leading role and she was acting together with her real daughter Lolita Chammah.
The 30th Istanbul Film Festival has an intense program. The festival will last until the 17th of April, during which time 230 films will be presented in different venues and cinemas.
Festival venues include Nişantaşı CityLife (City’s) in Nişantaşı, Atlas and AFM Fitaş 1 & 4 on Istiklal, the Pera Museum, and the cinema Rexx in Kadıköy.
The category of films on screen are manyfold: From International Competition to Human Rights in Cinema to Turkish Cinema 2010 – 2011 and Turkish Classic being Revisited… Other categories include Challenging the Years, From the World of Festivals, Young Masters, Documentary Time with NTV, Mined Zone, Midnight Madness and Kid’s Menu.
In addition to the beautiful festival films, visitors may watch also dialogue events, paralel events and concerts.
