If you’re looking to treat yourself why not head to the Grand Hyatt. The hotel is in the heart of the business district and next to Plaza Indonesia. It boasts over 450 rooms and suites and is one of the largest luxury hotels in Jakarta.
As you would expect the hotel has a spa and fitness centre. Why not stretch and unwind with a yoga class or sweat out the day’s worries in the steam room and sauna? Makes a change from the business of Jakarta’s traffic. Olympus spa offers aromatherapy, hot stone therapy, Swedish massage, sports massage and the intriguingly named “jetlag remedy.”
Foodies will love the range of cuisine on offer. C’s Steak and Seafood restaurant boasts over 3000 bottles of wine in its wine cellar. There is also Sumire, a Japanese Restaurant decked out in the style of a traditional Japanese country house. The seafood terrace on the fifth floor offers guests the chance to dine by the poolside. There is also a cafe on the lobby level offering a la carte dishes and a desert buffet.
One of my favourite things to do in the Grand Hyatt is to visit the Fountain Lounge. It overlooks the theatrical hotel lobby and the busy street below. It’s a great way to watch the world go by. The strawberries dipped in chocolate are yummy and there is a live acapella band that will serenade you. It’s not the cheapest of trips out though so do remember to bring your wallet! The lounge is open from 8am to 1am.
Bargain lovers might want to check out the hotel’s “specials and packages” page.
