There are a lot of fun bars and nightlife to choose from on Kauai with the main concentrations being in Kapaa, Koloa, and Princeville. Here are a few suggestions for bars on Kauai that exude an ambience and style of their own.
The Tradewinds Bar is a cool Polynesian style tropical bar that’s always up for fun. Located at the Coconut Plaza in Kapaa, the Tradewinds is known for two things: their Big Ass Draft and their famous Oyster Shooters. Must try Hawaiian tropical drinks include Blue Hawaii, Lava Flow, and a Mai Tai; happy hour runs daily from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
For another even more beautiful Hawaiian island experience, try Keoki’s Paradise located on beautiful Poipu Beach in Koloa. Set underneath the thatched roofs and tucked into the lush tropical palms next to the lagoon is Keoki’s Paradise Bamboo Bar and Cafe. Enjoy a tall, cool, tropical drink in this oh-so-Hawaiian setting. And if you’d like to grab a bite to eat, you can do that, too; try a Maha´ulepu Cooler or a Tropical Itch with a serving of Kalua Pork Spring Rolls on the side.
Also in Koloa but located at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, Stevenson’s Library is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a drink. More of an old-world type of bar, at Stevenson’s Library you can choose from a wide selection of cognac while you sit back and enjoy the live jazz music. While it may not be the party atmosphere some are looking for, Stevenson’s Library is definitely worth the visit even if it’s just to see their gorgeous native goa wood bar.
The St. Regis Bar at the St. Regis Resort in Princeville is another establishment with an old-world feel. Actually, it’s like a Stevenson’s Library meets a nautical theme. Offering gorgeous views of Hanalei Bay sunset, here you can sit back and relax while listening to local artists who perform nightly. Don’t miss the ‘Sunday Afternoon Jazz Jam’ from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.; they also offer drink specials throughout the session.
The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa also offers the Seaview Terrace lounge which is perfect for catching some rays while enjoying the refreshing ocean breeze. Only open from 4:30 until 8:30, the Seaview Terrace is a great stop before beginning a night out on the town. Enjoy an afternoon cocktail along with an array of appetizers – or if you stay until sunset, you can witness the Hawaiian torch lighting ceremony.
