During Earth Hour on March 27, 2010 at 8:30 p.m., hundreds of millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour as a call to action on climate change. The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe will be taking it one step further and will be celebrating the romance of candlelight.

For this year’s worldwide event, the local favorite of the North Shore, the Hyatt, will dim their lights and host a Candlelit Cocktail Hour on Saturday March 27th at 8:30 p.m.

The resort lobby, Tahoe Provisions, Sierra Café, Cutthroat’s Saloon and the casino will all be on candlelight for one hour. Complimentary appetizers and wine will be served, along with information regarding Hyatt’s ongoing green efforts.

A record 115 countries have joined the Earth Hour movement and 6,000 cities are projected to participate in this event. Candlelight on fresh snow and Tahoe’s blue waters will be a quiet protest of its own.
