The second season of the Reno Aces Minor League baseball team is heating up and will be celebrating its opening on April 8th. The first few Aces games will reward its fans with 50 cent hot dogs, fireworks after the first few games, auctions and giveaways.
The brand new Aces stadium is right in downtown Reno next to the Truckee river and is a great place for families to hang out or employees to meet after work. When the weather warms up, it’s THE place to be in the evenings. Downtown restaurants are just a short walk away after the game.
This season the Aces will welcome a new neighbor. The brand new Freight House District will be sharing space right next to the stadium. The Freight House District, named after a historic building in the area will open up with a pub called Duffy’s Ale House and later on in the season, a Cajun-style nightclub called 250 Lounge and a Mexican restaurant named Arroyo Mexican Grill will open.
When the Aces are not playing in town, the District will put on year-round concerts and events, both inside the stadium and within the Freight House area.
The District is moving closer to downtown as well. It is in the next phase of redeveloping an area where older and fire damaged hotels once stood. The idea is to create a family-friendly entertainment destination that is open year round, not just during baseball season. However, until these exciting new developments open…it’s time to hit the stadium to PLAY BALL!
