Tahoe Tunes: Lake Tahoe Summer Music Festivals
Events, What's New — By christinanellemann on May 31, 2010 at 5:22 pmAs the weather heats up at the lake, so does the music vibe. This year there will be two large music festivals to attend. The Sand Harbor Music Series every Monday and Friday night in July and August, and the Lake Tahoe Music Festival, July 22 to August 7.
The Lake Tahoe Music Festival will be featuring six concerts showcasing Broadway, blues, classic rock, country and R&B stars such as Natalie Cole, Michael McDonald, Wynonna, Broadway’s Best with Debbie Gravitte and the all time favorite Abba cover band adbacadabra. Several orchestras will be featured including the Lake Tahoe Orchestra Academy and the Tahoe-Truckee Youth Music Program.
The concerts will be held in several venues around the lake including Northstar-at-Tahoe, Old Greenwood, Tahoe Donner, Donner Lake and Granlibakken Conference Center.
Tickets range from $25 to $63 depending on the seating level and the artist. Children under five get in free. All concerts begin at 7 p.m.
The Sand Harbor Music Series, offered by the same group that brings the Bard to life, will be featuring a gamut of classical, jazz, blues and soul music, in one of the most beautiful places on the lake.
Broadway music with the Reno Philharmonic will be featured, as well as Blues and Soul with Sugaray, Latin music with Cecilia Noel, the first lady of L.A. Blues, Etta James, the band Mrs. Robinson who cover the Beatles, Heart, James Brown, the B52′s and Joe Crocker. Also included are Paul Thorn, the Royal Crown Revue, Yanni Violinist Karen Briggs, and Afro-Beat band Orgone.
Ticket prices depend on what seating area you reserve, but several hotel and show packages are being offered on the website.
The best thing about viewing outdoor music events at the lake is that is never gets very hot and you can spend all your time outdoors. However, once the sun goes down, put on that sweater.
So make it a day or a weekend up at the lake. Visit a few restaurants, grab a room and check out some of the music vibe near Big Blue.
