Glide along the blue water and discover the secret coves and hidden wildlife of Lake Tahoe during Paddlefest: Fall Paddle Day on Saturday, October 9, 2010. Tahoe researchers, who work to protect the lake from invasive aquatic species, and area biologists will guide the tour and point out the diverse habitats and unique features of this pristine alpine lake.
The tour will follow the Lake Tahoe Water Trail, which is a predetermined and mapped water trail with kayak/canoe friendly businesses, campgrounds and docking areas. The tour starts from Zephyr Cove Lodge on the east shore at 9:30 and will end with a beach barbecue lunch at Zephyr Cove beach. It costs $30 per person or $50 for couples. If you are a member of the Lake Tahoe Water Trail it will be $25 per person and $45 per couple. If you don’t have a boat or paddle, there will be kayak rentals on site. Every kayaker must wear a personal flotation device and must have their kayaks checked for any invasive species.
You can register for this event by calling (530) 579-2525.
