Winter is here and the ski resorts are opening up their slopes for some great early powder. Local restaurants are heating up their menus too with some dishes that are sure to keep you warm after your play date with the snow. Try some of these places for some hot and spicy grub.

Orchids Authentic Thai Food

Ready for that Thai spice? You can get it as hot as you can stand it at this hidden restaurant in South Lake Tahoe. Try the Spicy Basil or the Pumpkin Curry.

Get it hot and spicy at Caliente, a Mexican restaurant in King’s Beach. The food is a mixture of New Mexican cuisine and other Southwestern dishes. Try the Ancho Chile Beef Short Ribs or a Sizzling Fajita Platter. They offer a side of Poblano Mole which will certainly warm you up.

Lupita’s Mexican Restaurant

Another hot and spicy restaurant is located on the North Shore of the lake. Lupita’s serves authentic Mexican food and good margaritas (you have to have something to cool you down again). Try the Bistec with Onions or the Carne Asada.

Bridgetender Tavern and Grill

Grill is the key word here. Heat it up with sizzling steaks and barbequed chicken right off the grill at this popular place in Tahoe City.

La Fondue

Hot oil and hot cheese anyone? This fondue restaurant in Incline Village serves up fresh meats, bread and veggies with a variety of hot sauces for you to go dipping crazy. Be sure to wrap it up with a chocolate fondue at the end.
