Gay and Lesbian Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe in the winter is a hot spot for all couples, including gay and lesbian couples. This winter, the Tahoe area will be holding the 16th Annual Winterfest Gay and Lesbian Ski Week from March 6-13, 2011. This event is great for both skiers and non skiers and will feature a week of winter sports, parties, events, dancing and dinners.

Lakeland Village near the Heavenly resort will be the event host this year, but all visitors will find gay friendly hotels, B&Bs, and rental cabins all over the lake. Several that have been recommended by gay and lesbian groups include the Spruce Grove Cabins and the Hyatt at Incline Village.

There are no definitive gay clubs or bars in the Tahoe area, but there are a few in the Reno area. These include the 1099 Club near the Chapel in Mid Town Reno, the Five Star Saloon at the West Street Market and the Neutron/Tronix in East Reno. This bar is known for its fun and lively drag queen shows.

If you are looking for a fun night out up at the lake, get tickets for the Carnival Cabaret show at the Horizon in Stateline. This nightly show features performers with the uncanny likenesses of Marilyn Monroe, Beyonce, Cher, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and many others.
