On vacation, some people want to avoid the standard hotels and motels and want to cuddle up with the one they love next to a crackling fireplace. With the Tahoe area still covered in several feet of snow (and more on the way) there are plenty of cozy cabins to hole up in at the lake. Here are a few on all four sides of Lake Tahoe.

NORTH SHORE & TRUCKEE

Cedar Glen Lodge

Perfect for a honeymoon or a family vacation, the Cedar Glen lodge and the small cabins on the property are tucked under the pines and are close to the lake.

Lost Trail Lodge

Perfect for the traveler who loves the backcountry. The Lost Trail Lodge cabins are in some of the best skiing and snowshoeing parts of Truckee. Here you can really get away from the crowds.

WEST SHORE

Cottage Inn at Lake Tahoe
Sleep under the pine trees in a knotty pine cottage with all the amenities. The Cottage Inn has a full breakfast in the morning, fireplaces and homemade cookies.

SOUTH SHORE & MEYERS

Spruce Grove Cabins

The cozy and warm cabins in this area near the Heavenly ski resort have Tahoe names like the Bear’s Den, the Pioneer and the Washoe Hut. They are pet-friendly and conveniently located near the shopping and dining of South Lake Tahoe.

Sorenson’s Resort
A dream come true for small cabin lovers. Sorenson’s Resort is not right on the lake, but down on Hwy. 88 near Hope Valley. This is a great location for peace and quiet and some cross country skiing or snowshoeing.

EAST SHORE

Zephyr Cove Resort Cabins
These little log cabins are right on the beach and you can watch the M.S. Dixie II paddlewheel boat from the comfort of your own little deck.
