For lovers of yoga and meditation, the Wanderlust festival is the ultimate in new age and wellness. The California portion of the festival will be taking place this year at Squaw Valley USA on July 28-31. The activities included will be yoga classes with the nation’s top yoga teachers, meditation and lectures, music, nature walks and hikes, dancing, art, food and wine dinners and special events for children. Some of the proceeds will benefit the non-profit organization, Off the Mat, Into the World. This organization uses yoga instructors to ignite grassroots change in developing countries.

This year the yoga instruction lineup will include Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Jonny Kest and Hala Khouri. The music lineup includes Cornflower, the Wailers, the MarchFourth Marching Band and Kaminanda. Speakers will include John Friend and Bryant Terry. Children’s events will include yoga, music, henna tattoos, hula-hooping and crafts.

Yoga and music ticket holders can schedule up to three yoga or meditation classes per day and may attend all the lectures and music events. These ticket holders will also have free access to the cable car and lifts up to High Camp at Squaw Valley USA. The four-day pass costs $450, the three-day pass is $375 and the one-day pass goes for between $99 and $134.50. Lodging in the area can be purchases separately.

Everyone who attends the festival is encouraged to participate in the various events, yoga classes and meditation groups. In the attempt to make Wanderlust the most socially and environmentally conscious event of its kind, all attendees are being asked to participate in the event’s waste reduction and sustainable food and beverage programs. Wanderlust will train at least fifty volunteers to be part of an on-site “Green Team” that will explain the composting, reclamation and greening of the event.
