The weather is really starting to warm up and the lake is high and ready for the boaters and kayakers that flock to Lake Tahoe for 4th of July festivities. Lake Tahoe is one of the most popular places in the Sierras to celebrate America’s birthday. The sky is clear and blue and it is never very hot. This year’s events will take place in various areas around the lake and several fireworks shows can be viewed from local beaches or on the water. The key to most of these events is to come as early as possible, and bring your own picnic, blankets, chairs, and warm clothing for when the sun goes down. If you can’t make it to the lake, you can spend some time in Reno, Sparks, Carson City or Virginia City for their fun events. Fireworks will be held in Sparks, Carson City, and Virginia City. Be aware that personal fireworks are illegal in Reno and Washoe County.
