Photo Friday in Las Vegas: Lake Mead For Free

Things to Do — By thmeeks on August 14, 2010 at 1:15 am

Lake Mead is a huge lake in place without lakes. Technically, it’s really not a lake. It’s a reservoir–the largest one in the United States. Lake Mead was formed after Hoover Dam was built, and it took six and half years to fill. Today, it’s the subject of Photo Friday because Lake Mead National Recreation Area has free admission this weekend (August 14 and 15, 2010), along with several other national parks and recreation areas.
