The Bellagio’s Fountains may be one of the Strip’s most famous attractions, but capturing the show on video is a challenge. For starters, the show lasts four to five minutes–which is great if you’re watching in person, but it’s kinda long if you’re watching it on the computer. Pedro Szekely, the filmographer behind today’s video, ingeniously solved this challenge by using time lapse. The result is one of the best videos I’ve seen of the fountains. The only drawback is that there’s no music, which actually could be a plus or minus–I’ve certainly seen the show when I didn’t care for the songs they used.

Mark Fuller, CEO of Wet Designs, the company behind Bellagio’s Fountains, told FastCompany magazine in June of 2010: “We make people look at water with the eyes of a child, like the first time you see the ocean.” I think this video captures that quality.
