On March 26, Saturday, the Las Vegas Strip will once again take part in Earth Hour. From 8:30 to 9:30, several properties along the Strip will turn off many of their exterior, non-essential lights. That means buildings and marquees go dark.
Even with a lot of the lights off, Las Vegas is still a bright city–so don’t expect total darkness along the Strip. But if you can get a good vantage point for the turn off/turn on times, it’s pretty interesting to see the difference.
If you have a room facing the Strip (the higher up, the better), you’ll have a terrific view. If not, the top of one of the hotels’ parking garages is another good place to witness the lights going off or on. If you happen to be on the outskirts of the city when the Strip goes dark, you’ll wonder if you’re really looking at Las Vegas.
