For the second year in a row, Peru Government will throw a New Year’s Eve party, open for everyone according to their press release, at Palacio de Gobierno’s Honor Patio and Plaza Mayor.

This party will be featuring the most popular Peruvian cumbia band, “Grupo 5”, and is being sponsored by private companies, reports Government’s Palace Press Secretary.

Official sources have confirmed, via their Twitter account, that Grupo 5 will perform there on Dec. 31 at 10pm, and that everyone can attend this party for free.

Last year a similar party was held there, and thousands of Peruvians gathered to have a great time with the music, the fireworks show, the giant LCD screens and the huge bell installed for the New Year’s countdown.

The show also includes performances by several creole music artists, the Army and Police musical bands, and President Alan Garcia and the Cabinet is also expected to attend.

So, this may be another interesting option for welcoming the New Year 2011 in Lima. It will surely be very crowded but remember: it’s free!!
