Things to Do, Travel Tips — By Isabel Guerra on March 30, 2011 at 4:47 amIn our last post we mentioned some travel tips to make the most of your trip to Lima. Now we are offering a few tips on things you may want to do in order to explore some new experiences in this city.
- Did you know that you can buy entire seasons of popular TV shows in Lima for only US $5? The black market of electronics and DVD’s is huge here. Ask locals and take a look at popular street markets like El Hueco.
- While exploring Lima Downtown, don’t miss the traditional street Jirón de la Unión, that connects the two main squares Plaza de Armas and Plaza San Martin: it is a popular street only for pedestrians, and is full of shops, restaurants, fast food places, cinemas, etc.
- If you are fond of ports, visit Callao first thing in the morning and leave early in the afternoon. Be careful with the pickpocketers, take a stroll along La Punta Beach and visit the Real Felipe old fortress.
- If you visit the Larco Museum, remember to walk a few metres and enjoy a Pisco Sour at the traditional Antigua Taberna Queirolo.
- And remember, you are in Peru, the homeland of ceviche and many other delicious gastronomical specialties, so, try a bit of everything and go eat!!
