You can relax and enjoy Lisbon without ever leaving your hotel. Several of the city’s four- and five-star properties offer superb spa facilities where guests can indulge in serious bouts of laziness and undergo a regime of professional pampering that’ll put the ying back in yang and ease the mind, body and soul.

Ritz Spa

Wellbeing is a precise art form at this exclusive facility in the five-star Four Seasons Hotel Ritz. With over 1,500 square metres of floorspace, this is one of the largest and most luxurious hotel spas in the Portuguese capital. With its Zen-like interior – all rich oak and marble and a Buddhist-inspired soundtrack – an indoor pool, four multi-purpose treatment rooms and a sauna, steam room and crushed ice fountain, the Ritz Spa is practically unrivalled for its outstanding array of massage options, treatments and therapies. The hotel also offers an in-room massage and spa service.

Spirito Spa

Spa aficionados are in for a treat if they stay at the Sheraton Lisboa Hotel & Spa. This five-star city centre property has a super stylish and contemporary spa that positively oozes with Mediterranean atmosphere. No less than 7 treatment rooms are available, as well as a VIP Suite for two people. The feel-good options extend to hamman, Jacuzzi and vitality pool facilities as well as a beautiful and inviting heated outdoor pool. The programmes of therapies and treatments have been carefully selected to induce a feeling of extreme calm – aromatherapy is a speciality here.

Malo Spa

Arguably the largest spa facility in Lisbon, Malo Spa at the five-star Corinthia Lisbon is a veritable wonderland of wellbeing, with 14 treatment rooms at the ready offering anything from massotherapy and anti-ageing treatments to aquatic hydro massage and Sensations Shower. Ticking more health and vitality boxes is a natural solarium, state-of-the-art gym and, interestingly, a spinning room. A special programme of body and face rituals adds to the allure. Spa Aquae

This very popular and wonderfully intimate spa is housed within the modern and stylish four-star Hotel Dom Pedro Palace, located slightly off the tourist track near Lisbon’s Amoreiras shopping centre. Guests using Spa Aquae can revitalise themselves in the cardio-fitness room before plunging into the Jacuzzi or taking a sauna. There are five treatment rooms offering a range of therapies and rituals. The signature treatment is chrome-therapy, which is the use of different colours as an alternative cure for ailments. The indoor swimming pool is specifically designed to utilise this ancient healing method.

BSpa

The riverside location of the Altis Belém Hotel & Spa adds considerable kudos to the four-star property’s BSpa facility. Fashionable and contemporary, the spa is characterised by the luxurious Thermo Garden complex that encompasses a dynamic indoor swimming pool, sauna, hamman and Turkish bath. The range of treatments and rituals, designed by Swiss brand Karin Herzog, help improve health, beauty and wellbeing. Guests can also experience oxygen therapy, a technique that complements the spa’s programme of ancient oriental traditions of relaxation.
