Considered to be one of the nicest (if not the nicest) hotels in Little Rock, the Capital Hotel has welcomed guests to its lovely, sophisticated rooms since it opened in 1870. Not long after the Capital opened, US president Ulysses S. Grant stayed at the hotel. The Capital – or “the front porch of Little Rock,” as some regard it – is well-known for its traditional Southern hospitality and contemporary elegance. Although it has undergone various renovations over the years, it still retains some of its most beautiful original features. With its wonderful views of downtown Little Rock, luxurious rooms, and historic charm, The Capital is sure to please.
The Capital is conveniently located near many of Little Rock’s must-see attractions. The hotel is right across the street from the Statehouse Convention Center and a short walk from the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park and Heifer International’s world headquarters. Only three blocks away from the Capital, the River Market Entertainment District has a number of museums and institutes, as well as various restaurants, nightclubs, and shops.
The Capital recently updated all of its rooms during a two-year renovation. Each room has free WiFi, floor to ceiling windows, subway tiled baths, and 14-foot ceilings. Guests receive complimentary access to the Downtown Athletic Club. The hotel features various parlors where guests can relax and hang out. With its five conference rooms and a ballroom, the hotel is also a great place to hold meetings or host special events.
The Capital also has several high-quality restaurants that serve “New Americana” cuisine. Ashley’s at the Capital features an ever-changing menu with great dishes made with organic and fresh ingredients. The Capital Bar and Grill has a more relaxed environment and serves Southern cuisine staples and comfort food.
The Capital is located at 111 West Markham Street in Little Rock. For directions, room rates and availability, and more information, visit the hotel’s website here.
