The Golden Age of Haute Couture

Things to Do — By Sarah E. Rogers on August 18, 2010 at 9:56 pm

Haute couture is synonymous with the city of Paris and famous couturiers of the past like Coco Chanel and Christian Dior, but Chanel and Dior’s Spanish contemporaries–Spanish couturiers like Cristóbal Balenciaga, Santa Eulalia, and Pedro Rodríguez–also masterfully expressed their artistic visions in fabric for society’s rich and famous.

The Clothing Museum (Museo del Traje) has organized an exhibit to pay homage to the renaissance the haute couture industry experienced during the years 1920 to 1970. The Golden Age of Haute Couture (La Edad de Oro de la Alta Costura) runs until November 28.
