Outdoor Summer Cinema
Events — By Sarah E. Rogers on August 19, 2010 at 8:00 pmOne of Madrid’s great recent traditions is outdoor summer cinema (cine de verano). Parks around the capital and Madrid province host screenings of big-name movies on hot summer nights, and it’s always a lot of fun.
One of the places to catch movies is at Parque de la Bombilla for the Fescinal. (The closest Metro stop is Princípe Pío, but head for the Glorieta de San Antonio de la Florida where the Ermita de San Francisco de la Florida with its Goya frescoes is, which also happens to be next to popular chicken and cider restaurant Casa Mingo.)
Until September 4 the Fescinal outdoor film fest screens two movies a day with sit-down seating in the park. Movies include Brothers, Airbender, Honeymoons, and I Love You Phillip Morris.
You can find more information on Fescinal at http://www.fescinal.es/ (in Spanish).
