Bullfights on Sunday

Travel Tips — By Sarah E. Rogers on August 21, 2010 at 9:12 pm

Built of brick in the 1920’s, Madrid’s Las Ventas bullring is accented with traditional Spanish painted tiles and is the most famous and most important bullfighting arena in the world. In fact, the San Isidro bullfighting festival in May is considered to be bullfighting’s elite event.

The regular bullfighting season at Las Ventas runs from March to October with bullfights scheduled for every Sunday. Bullfights are considered a family-friendly event for all ages. However, after the bullfights you can head to the packed bars and cafes surrounding the bullring and watch the groups of elderly Spanish gentlemen as they discuss the latest fight.

If you find bullfighting and its history intriguing, the Bullfighting Museum (Museo Taurino) can also be found there at Las Ventas.
