Inaugural Season: Maui’s Semi-Pro Baseball Team Offers Fun Evening Outing

In honor of the recent dominance exhibited by the Hawaii Little League baseball players this past weekend (winning their third national championship in the last five years), I thought I would shine the light on Maui’s own professional baseball team. That’s right, Maui has a professional sports team!

Started in 2010, Maui’s semi-professional baseball team, the No Koa Ikaika Maui, has offered a fun outlet for baseball fans on the island.  The team plays in the Golden Baseball League, which is made up of teams from Canada, Mexico, and the western United States.  The games are played in Maehara Stadium (in Wailuku), which shares the same parking lot with the Maui War Memorial Stadium… for those in need of directions.

With more than 40 home games hosted between the months of May and September, the season aligns perfectly for those tourists vacationing on Maui in the spring and summer.  Cap a wonderful day at the beach with a family trip to Iron Maehara Stadium for a night of high quality baseball played under the beautiful Maui stars. Single game tickets cost only $7.  According to their site, the No Koa Ikaika are averaging 1,280 fans at each home game this season.

Be sure to stop by the merchandise tent to pick up a Maui baseball hat or jersey that all the kids back on home on the mainland will be jealous of.
