Great Email to Sign Up for on Maui

If you are like me, you are signed up for about 10 or 15 different email newsletters from different companies. Sure the Groupon and LivingSocial emails usually get deleted before I even open them, but there are some emails from local Maui companies that I eagerly await.

My favorite email subscriptions are from Maui golf courses and the two Four Seasons hotels on Lanai (I get the scoop on all the special deals and savings), but I encourage all to sign up for the Maui Ocean Center email list.

For those that have never been to the Maui Ocean Center, it is a treat.  See Hawaiian sea turtles, colorful reef fish, and even walk through an underwater glass tunnel as sharks and rays swim over your head.  For a somewhat small aquarium, the Maui Ocean Center is definitely worth the $24 admission price.  And I am not the only one that thinks the aquarium is amazing, I am fairly confident it has been Maui’s most visited tourist attraction on Maui for many years running.

About once every three months I will get an email from the aquarium that details free events after hours at the aquarium.  The Ocean Center frequently hosts educational talks with famous marine biologist and the public is invited to attend for free.  Head to the aquarium after it closes for the day and get a private walkthrough of the aquarium followed by these educational talks.

The subjects discussed in the educational series usually focus on local marine life, which I find very interesting, since you are likely to come across the fish and mammals mentioned as you snorkel on Maui.  This last January the Maui Ocean Center hosted a free talk about the seashells found in the  Hawaiian Island chain. Other talks have focused on “sharktistics”, Hawaiian sea turtles, and the Hawaiian monk seal.

To sign up to be on this email list, head to the Maui Ocean Center website and click on its “news and events” category.  If any of my readers have tips on other great local email newsletters to join, please feel free to leave them in the notes below.
