Looking for an Oktoberfest alternative in early September?
Events, Food, Things to Do, Travel Tips — By Mike Richardson on August 26, 2010 at 5:18 pmThe Rosenheimer Herbstfest starts Saturday August 28th and runs until Sunday September 12th this year. With over six million people visiting Munich’s Oktoberfest every year, an alternative where you can actually get a beer without having to stab someone might just what you’re looking for. Rosenheim is a town about 45 minutes by train from Munich. There are regular trains between Munich and Rosenheim until midnight every night of the week, so you can easily party in Rosenheim and sleep in Munich.
I know what you’re wondering, “Is it as much fun as the Oktoberfest? Or is it just a cheap alternative?” Many would argue that it’s more fun as there are less tourists, cheaper beers, and less hassle. It is still a HUGE event, just not ridiculously huge like it’s Munich equivalent. They still expect well over a million visitors, so plenty of locals to party with. A liter of beer at the Rosenheimer Herbstfest this year is €7.40. Have fun without the hassle…I’ll see you there.
