Löwe am Markt Gaststätte

The “Lion at the Market” is a small Bavarian restaurant with a great location right near the center of Munich at the Viktualienmarkt.  It has a cozy atmosphere, but tends to be busy every night of the week, so if you like the look of the place and the location make sure to make a reservation.  This place fits in with the neighborhood that it is in, which is a series of small Bavarian restaurants that are each lovely, but they’re only really differentiated by their choice of beer on tap.  The décor is quite stereotypical Bavarian with dark wooden benches inside, but in the summer there is also seating outside next to the market area.

The Food:  Traditional Bavarian, which means mostly pork, pork, and more pork.

The Price:  On the high side compared to the big boys, but you can still get an excellent meal for around 11-15 Euros.

The Beer:  Löwenbräu is on tap with all of its varieties.
