Taco Libre

Tired of pork, pork and more pork in the land of the pork?

One great alternative is to go for a California-style Mexican restaurant.  Taco Libre has a typical Mexican restaurant feel to the place, though it is quite small.  The food is quite authentic for Europe so you can get it a bit spicier than normally possible in Munich which is a welcome treat for those of us who have been in Europe a very long time.  It’s located just across the street from the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) of Munich, so the location is great for a quick lunch or dinner near you hotel or where tours depart from.  (As of April 2011 some of the signs on the restaurant say “Wa*Haka,” instead of Taco Libre, which was the name of the restaurant for the first 6 months it was open)

The Food:  California style Mexican

The Price:  A bit higher than I had hoped when I first visited, but just on the high side of average for Munich.  A good meal will set you back 10-15 Euros.

The Beer:  Mexican beer is available as well as an assortment of other drinks of course.
