Travel Tips, What's New — By Sanjay Kumar on August 12, 2010 at 3:34 am

News Flash: Soon you will be able to travel from the heart of New Delhi to its swank new Terminal 3 in all of 20 minutes. The Metro Airport Express is slated to begin a month before the Commonwealth Games.

At the City end, the Metro is putting finishing touches to a mammoth station called the City Airport Terminal. Situated bang opposite the New Delhi Railway Station, this will have all the facilities of the main terminal. You can check in your baggage, get your boarding passes, indulge a bit of shopping at the outlets,  pick up a snack or two and then whiz along to the airport in flat 20 minutes.

You also have the option of checking in your baggage and stepping out for some last minute shopping before you board the train.

The Trains will start from the City Airport Terminal. There will be three stops along the way: Shivaji Terminus, Dhaula Kuan and National Highway-8. The fare will be Rs. 150 (Approx. $3.5) per person.

The Trains will have plush seating, advanced noise reduction and active flight information displays. When operational, this link will be a great way to commute to and from the airport. That is, unless you love the thrill of the three-wheeler ride.

This is great! Last time we were there, it took us all the while to come to the city from the airport.

Yes! I am looking forward to it, too. Life would be that much more simple.
