Cupcakes for Carrie

The reviews are in for Sex and the City 2—ouch! Pretty much all the critics—from Roger Ebert to Entertainment Weekly, L.A. Times to N.Y. Times—hated it, though the harsh reviews and long running time (2 ½ hours) didn’t stop fans from going to see the movie (although in smaller numbers than predicted).

The ladies spend much of the latest movie on vacation in Abu Dhabi, and experts predicted the exposure would boost tourism for the UAE (although the actual shooting took place in Morocco) That certainly has been the case for New York City, as shown by the success of ventures like the Sex and the City Hotspots tour, as well as the long lines outside Magnolia Bakery in the West Village, one of the spots featured in the TV series. (You may remember Carrie Bradshaw, played by real-life West Village resident Sarah Jessica Parker, eating a cupcake outside the shop while discussing her latest crush with Miranda.)

Could this be Carrie's cupcake? (By biskuit via Flickr)

Though it was recently removed from SATC bus tours, Magnolia is now selling a cupcake named for Carrie herself. The “Carrie” cupcake is vanilla with pink buttercream frosting, and is topped with a sugar daisy. Die-Hard SATC fans looking for a post-movie treat should prepare to wait a while (the line often snakes around the block) and get ready for a sugar rush.
